LOCAL CHURCH SERVES THE COUNTY FOR A DAY: CareFest Doubles in Size

LOCAL CHURCH SERVES THE COUNTY FOR A DAY

CareFest Doubles in Size

April 12, 2006 – Wheaton, Ill. – On Saturday May 6, almost 1,000 people from Wheaton Bible Church, a 75-year-old, non-denominational church, will be serving DuPage County through 135 projects at 50 sites. This is the second “CareFest” service day by Wheaton Bible Church and its Spanish-speaking congregation, Iglesia Biblica de Wheaton.

“Our goal is to build bridges into our community. By serving sacrificially, we communicate that we care and love our neighbors and neighborhoods,” says Chris McElwee, Local Impact Pastor. “This year we hope to double the number of participants and we’ve almost tripled the number of projects compared to 2005. We’ll spend Saturday serving schools, parks, local not-for-profits, and other community agencies.”

CareFest is for everyone—young and old alike, as well as families. A CareFest kick-off rally at Wheaton Bible Church begins at 8:15 a.m. in the church Sanctuary. Most projects will last from 9:00 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m. Many “family” projects will be half-day projects ending around 1:00 p.m.

Similar to last year, projects will include cleaning, landscaping, painting, and light carpentry, or plumbing. The community is invited to participate. For information, contact Wheaton Bible Church, 630.260.1600, or info@wheatonbible.org.
