The goal is to build bridges of light into our community.

We will spend Saturday, May 2nd serving schools, parks, our local ministry partners and local not-for-profits. By serving sacrificially, we communicate that we care and love our community. Projects will last all day, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. These projects include cleaning, landscaping, painting and light carpentry or plumbing. If you have a special skill, i.e. a plumber or an electrician, please let us know. Families with young children (under eight years old) will be assigned to projects the whole family can enjoy.

CareFest is for everyone. This is an opportunity to fulfill Jesus’ command to serve one another and to learn about the needs in our community. We hope your small group, Adult Community and/or family finds a place where you can serve on a regular basis.

CareFest will start at 8:15 am with a kick-off rally at Wheaton Bible Church. We hope to see you there!Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17342852760288011089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2253984511955281512.post-32087420188158450452008-02-15T08:38:00.000-08:002009-03-05T10:49:07.219-08:0010 Churches Announced for CareFest
CareFest 2008, a DuPage County (Illinois) organization based in Wheaton, Ill., announced 10 churches have committed to work together to fix, clean, repair, paint, scrub, and otherwise serve their community. 1,800 volunteers are expected. This is the second “CareFest” service day by Wheaton Bible Church and its Spanish-speaking congregation, Iglesia Biblica de Wheaton.

“Our goal is to build bridges into our community. By serving sacrificially, we communicate that we care and love our neighbors and neighborhoods,” says Chris McElwee, Local Impact Pastor. “This year we hope to double the number of participants and we’ve almost tripled the number of projects compared to 2005. We’ll spend Saturday serving schools, parks, local not-for-profits, and other community agencies.”

CareFest is for everyone—young and old alike, as well as families. A CareFest kick-off rally at Wheaton Bible Church begins at 8:15 a.m. in the church Sanctuary. Most projects will last from 9:00 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m. Many “family” projects will be half-day projects ending around 1:00 p.m.

Similar to last year, projects will include cleaning, landscaping, painting, and light carpentry, or plumbing. The community is invited to participate.
